Owned by the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, the superquick multi-million dollar catamaran (two hulls) also known as “Tecopa”, the Indian word for wildcat, brings passengers to and from Lake Havasu City in 16 to 20 minutes. Tecopa can transport up to 150 passengers at 30 mph, twice the speed and about a third more people than its predecessor, Dreamcatcher, which was refurbished and served as a back-up.
Painted white to reflect the heat, the air-conditioned ferry has high-resolution radar and forward-looking infrared sensors that can sense any heat source, such as a disabled powerboat, up to almost a mile away at night. The catamaran was designed to provide a smooth ride even on whitecap days.
It leaves from a new terminal on the Arizona side, located next to English Village just north of the London Bridge along the Channel, with plenty of free parking nearby.
In 2019 the Chemehuevi Tribe constructed a brand-new $40 million casino on its more than 32,000 acres of land along 30 miles of Colorado River shoreline. It is a 4-story structure with 25,00 square feet.
The new Havasu Landing Resort & Casino is situated on the western shores of Lake Havasu at Havasu Lake, CA. It offers state-of-the-art gaming with 245 slots, with a nice variety of them on display, ranging from classic slot reels to video poker.
Havasu Landing Resort and Casino also features live blackjack and 3-card poker. Blackjack, and Three Card Poker, can be played all days of the week, and guests can sit on $ 3 Blackjack tables from Monday through Thursday, a truly cheap minimum bet. Tables are open until 8:30 pm on weekdays and 1:30 am on weekends.
The new establishment includes a hotel with 48 guest rooms and suites. There is also a boat marina as well as a general store that were both completed by mid-2018. A 13,000 square-foot gaming floor feature 349 slot machines, table games, a lounge, and a restaurant.
When it comes to gastronomic adventures, Lake Havasu Landing Resort and Casino also has excellent picks to offer. The ‘Trails End Restaurant’ offers a pleasant panorama on the lake and tasty meals, of course.
The lounge allows for gaming while sipping on a cocktail, with the same overview on the water (or you can enjoy watching TV on its screens if you like).
